INSTRUCTIONS FOR USING THE SAUNA

- Empty the excess ashes into the black square metal ashbin which is under the ramp leading to the stable attic.- Take 15 - 20 pieces of dry cut firewood into the sauna. The firewood is in the woodshed that you enter through the third doorway of the courtyard building. The place for the firewood is on the left hand side of the sauna oven behind the protective wall. Do not keep firewood too close to the fire.

- Place the floor covers on the sauna benches or other place off of the floor when heating the sauna.  The covers and the floor stay clean if you take off your shoes before entering the sauna when heating it.

- Remember to keep the ventilation vents open (incoming and outgoing air vents are usually always open).

 SAUNA OVEN

- Remember to close the sauna oven door properly once you have started the fire. Use for example newspaper to start the fire if no birch bark is available.

- Make sure the ash box is drawn out a couple of centimeters so that air can enter the fire through it. As the sauna stove gets hotter, you can push the ash box in a little bit. Do not close it to not stifle the fire.

- Do not heat the sauna oven too much. Make sure that the sauna temperature does not raise above 70 degrees Celsius. It is strenuous to bathe in a sauna that is too hot, and excess heat increases the risk of burning down the building.

- The sauna is ready for bathing after burning one stove load of wood, in about half an hour after lighting it. The sauna thermometer will be pointing at about 60 degrees Celsius when the sauna is ready for bathing.

- Throw only warm water on the sauna stove rocks. Cold water strains the sauna stove and the rocks in it.

WATER BOILER

- Fill the water boiler with water before lighting the fire under it.

- One load of wood is enough to heat the water. Boiling water is dangerous, so be very careful with the hot water.

- When the water level in the boiler has gone down due to water use, please add cold water into the boiler. It is very dangerous to scoop up water from the bottom of the boiler. Hot steam can also cause burns on the skin.

- Heating the sauna when intoxicated is strictly forbidden, and excess use of alcohol when bathing is not recommended.

- Do not let small children bathe in the sauna alone. Make sure they are always accompanied by an adult. Do not let children take water from the boiler. It is good to add cold water into the boiler so that the water temperature is low enough not to cause burns.

- After using the sauna, please make sure that those coming after you can also enjoy a clean and tidy sauna.

Louhela sauna troll wishes you pleasant bathing!
