Renovation of the buildings on Louhela hill started in 2003. The outer covering of the main cottage was difficult. Off with the old latex paint and on with the new oil paint.

The old entrance hall had to go also, and be replaced by a new one built according to the original model.

In the midst of all the rubble she can smile when he is slaving away...

The old milk room was turned into sauna, so let's get in and enjoy it...

The battens had to be replaced also. The cowshed was fixed up after it was emptied. What a delight to have the swans back to visit

The red ocher needed to be cooked. And water has to come and go. To think of all the regulations involved!

First an absorption field and then the sauna bubble tanks. We need to call our friends and tell them that the lake is well protected from pollution.

Then there is the little cottage that needs a little touch up. Outside...

And inside.

Now all that remains is the finishing touches. But we will not break our backs when there is a machine to do the digging.

A playhouse is a must. Lo and behold, there it is!

Making these pages, we returned to look at a time 4 - 5 years ago. The family has grown and the children are bigger. There have been bad days but also good ones, for such is life. Now that Louhela buildings are ready, I want to thank all those who have rejoiced over it or have suffered for it. I want to thank the neighbors, whose summer evening peace I have broken with the piercing noise of my circular saw.
