In 2002, came an opportunity to buy the old Louhela farm buildings. These old buildings from the 1910s stand on a rocky hill and had now found owners that would do everything they could to restore the buildings and the courtyard and to make them comfortable for the holiday-makers who enjoy the idyllic countryside. The project presented many challenges and evolved into a passion for restoring old buildings and building houses according to tradition.
(The old Kujala log house in the Kurkela village had to be pulled down. All available old building material was stored for later use)

Restoring old buildings as well as traditional building techniques have gained appreciation in the recent years. Information on them is found in many books and publications and on the internet. Those interested in traditional building techniques can visit the following website: Rakennusperinteen ystävät ry (only in Finnish).
